My Aunt came for a visit

My Aunt Joan (my dad's sister) came for a visit this last week. You wont believe this but she's a quilter too. Joan has been a hand quilter for years. She would make whole cloth quilts and then create a picture on the quilt with hand quilting. It's only been recent that she has tried her hand at piecing. So on Monday I took her to a couple of quilt shops in the area and then over to Fabric Depot. Joan picked up a pattern book on the Carpenter's wheel at one shop and then bought the fabric at the Depot. The whole time telling me that she had 2 or 3 projects already going. I finally made her promise not to start the Carpenter's Wheel until she finished at least 2 project. On Tuesday, Joan came over and looked through some of my books and found a couple of blocks she wanted to try. So on Wednesday She came over and we had a quilt class. I showed her how to make flying geese, and then she tried the Friendship Star block, then Ohio Star, and then a Fancy Star block and the last one was the Cross and Crown block. It was a good day. I showed her some rulers that make the job easier and showed her some tricks and tips. Now she's ready to try them out. This is my Aunt working on the Ohio Star. It was nice to have some time to spend with her. And just in case you're wondering, yes she had plenty of time to visit with my dad too. :o}

Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for commenting on my blog. You must be the fabulous quilter I've seen on Jodi's blog. You both do some great work.
