Life Changes

I am amazed that August is here and almost gone. 2012  has been a year of many changes. Some better than others.

One of the things I have been thinking about is my blog. I can't believe its been 4 years. In fact my first post was on August 20, 2008. So I think it's fitting that my last post will be on August 20, 2012.

I am grateful to those of you who have come faithfully and check on me and my different projects and left kind words of encouragement.

This last year has been a challenge to say the very least. In the last month I was laid off from my job and have been searching for a new. I have been looking here in Oregon as well as in Idaho {I have a lot of family in Idaho}

My quilting has slowed down a great deal mostly due to finances, and because I have been sewing for others. I will continue to sew and quilt for others, however I will not be posting any more. I plan on checking on blogs and stopping by now and then. :o}

I hope you have a great day.

Bowls w/ Borders Blog Hop

Sew We Quilt is kicking off another blog hop.  This time it's "Bowls w/ Borders" using Regina Grewe's paper piecing paper. The Hostess for this hop is Carol.

I decided to join in the fun even though paper piecing is not one of my favorite ways of piecing.

Regina's pattern went together pretty easy and before you know it I had mine done and ready to post. :o}.

I only made a stack of 4 bowls. When you live in an apartment you don't have much space.

Hop you have fun on the hop.

Have a great day.

pinwheel quilt

The other day I got a bee in my bonnet and decided to try something different I purchased the "lil twister" by CS Designs
this is the first and last time I will make this quilt. it was an interesting project. unique process -- you make a quilt top and then cut it up and then put it together again.

This quilt will go to the "Knight Cancer Institute"

Hope you have a great day

Star Table runner

I found this simple table runner on Sew we Quilt blog and the host post was by "A Bright Corner"

She quilted a simple runner and then appliqued stars on with straight line quilting.
I will use this for the Relief Society table for the summer. {just can handle an empty table} ;o}

Hope you have a great summer

Jelly Roll challenge

Many months ago my quilting friends and I purchased a jelly roll.
each of us chose a different color and then we got together and decided on a pattern.
We decided on the pattern "State of Grace" by Daniela Stout

I can tell you that I procrastinated on starting mine because my jelly roll had a lot of
creams and it just wasn't working for me with this pattern.
but with a great amount of urging from my quilting friends I took
the plunge and started the project.
I will tell you that the other 3 made one full size quilt.
I didn't have the need for a full size quilt so
I made 2 quilts abt the size 44"x60"

I added brown and blue fabric to my jelly roll. its interesting how
the colors made each look so different.

One will be for keeps and then one will be going to the
"Knight Cancer Institute"

Now this pattern used the sew and flip method to make all of those angles.
as I started this project I looked at all of those corners I would be
cutting off and throwing away. {yes I usually throw them away}
However this time I decided I would sew and another line of
stitching before I cut away the corners. that gave me about 60 or so
pinwheel squares [about 3 1/2" squares]

so what to do. I had several strips left from the jelly roll
and together I made this little quilts

This is a great size for a stroller or to tuck into the baby carrier.

Hope you have a great day

Church bag

The other day I picked up the McCalls Quilting magazine {mar/apr 2010} and within the pages I found a pattern for a new bag.

the pattern was for Penny Sturges
I made her "bow tuck" bag so I thought I would give this one a try. and it made up easy enough.

It's called "Pick a Posy Bag" and yes it has the instructions for the flower too. and it's easy enough that you can make several different colors and change them as you go.

I will be using this for my "Sunday bag"

Hope you have a great day

weddings

Weddings are in the air. There was a wedding in April and then one this month.
so what to do... Well I decided to make place mats for both weddings.

I used the pattern: Silk therapy for Dinner
by Vanilla House
and no I didn't use silk just cotton
I think they turned out just fine.

Hope you have a great day
